إنجاز علميّ بارز في علوم الموسيقى المقاميّة

الدكتور غسّان سحّاب قد فاز بدورة عام 2025 لجائزة الجمعيّة الفرنسيّة لتحليل الموسيقى ومجلة موزورجيا، وذلك لمقال قام فيه بتطبيق منهجيّة السيمياء المقاميّة (التي وضعها البروفيسور نداء أبو مراد) على تقسيم من مقام الراست لمحمد العقاد.

حاصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في علم موسيقى الشعوب من جامعة باريس – نانتير. يُعدّ من القلائل في العالم العربي الذين يجمعون بين البحث الأكاديمي المتقدّم والممارسة الاحترافية للعزف التقليدي على آلة القانون بأسلوب عصر النهضة المصرية وقد أصدر تسجيلات موسيقيّة وشارك في عروض حيّة على مسارح مرموقة. وهو الشريك المؤسّس والمدير الموسيقي لمبادرة «مَعزِف» في لبنان، ويُدرّس علم الموسيقى وآلة القانون في الجامعة الأنطونية. في عام 2025، نال جائزة الجمعية الفرنسية لتحليل الموسيقى ومجلة Musurgia، عن بحثٍ تطبيقي في التحليل المقامي يُعدّ سابقةً علمية كونه أول باحث من العالم العربي يفوز بهذه الجائزة المرموقة في مجال علم الموسيقى. كما شارك عضواً في لجنة علمية متخصّصة بتوثيق المقامات والإيقاعات العربية في مؤتمر الموسيقى الأول (الرياض، (2025، بالإضافة كونه عضواً في مجلس إدارة مؤسسة التوثيق والبحث في الموسيقى العربية (AMAR). وهو أيضاً عضو أساسي في تخت ملتقى الموسيقى المقاميّة وعازف آلة القانون.

A notable scholarly achievement to maqām musicology

Dr. Ghassan Sahhab has won the 2025 edition of the Prize awarded by the French Society of Musical Analysis (Société Française d’Analyse Musicale - SFAM) and the journal Musurgia; for the article « Réécriture sémiotique modale transformationnelle d’un taqsīm improvisé au qānūn en mode Rāst par Muḥammad al-‘Aqqād » (Résultats du concours d’articles SFAM/Musurgia 2025 – SFAM). Indeed, Dr. Sahhab excellently applied the analytical methodology of modal semiotics theory (developed by Prof. Nidaa Abou Mrad) to a qānūn taqsīm. It is also noteworthy that this is the first time a researcher from the Arab world has won this important musicological prize.

Ghassan Sahhab

Holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from Université Paris Nanterre and is among the very few scholars in the Arab world who combine advanced academic research with professional performance practice on the qānūn, mastering the instrument in the style of the Egyptian Nahda era. He has released musical recordings and performed live on renowned stages, is the co-founder and musical director of the Meʿẓaf Initiative (Lebanon), and teaches musicology and qānūn at Antonine University. In 2025, he was awarded the SFAM–Musurgia Prize by the French Society for Musical Analysis and the journal Musurgia for an applied research article in modal analysis, marking a scholarly first as the first researcher from the Arab world to receive this distinction in musicology. He also served as a member of a specialized scientific committee for the documentation of Arabic maqāmāt and rhythms at the First Arab Music Congress held in Riyadh (2025), is a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Music Archiving and Research Foundation (AMAR), and a core member of the Maqām Festival Ensemble and its qānūn player.
